TXT Records

TXT records are records that hold any form of unformatted text against a hostname. They are generally used when setting up Sender Policy Framework (SPF), DomainKeys (DK), and DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM).

A typical usage of a text record would be to add a string of text for implementing Office 365 mail. Office 365 would provide a unique line of text to include on your DNS records to prove that you have access to the DNS Zone of the Domain Name, or in other words, verify your domain.

The format of this record is usually:

<owner> <class> <ttl> TXT "<attribute name>=<attribute value>"
